Raheny Badminton Club trains every Monday and Wednesday night during the Badminton season (September to May) from 8pm to 11pm.

No. Arriving early means you’ll have more opportunities to play but you can come at whatever time suits you. You can leave any time before 11pm, but please tell the match coordinator so that you’re not scheduled into any more games for the remainder of the night.

Yes, we use the Bad Board match selection system to ensure the best games possible. We also monitor the games to ensure that you’re not being selected with the same people for every game.

No, as part of your subscription to the club, we provide the shuttles for all of your games.

Yes – it’s your essential piece of kit! There are rackets available to rent from the Badminton Centre but you’ll need your own if you’re joining a club. Mary and Elizabeth Dinan operate the Centre’s sports shop and they’ll be more then happy to advise you on a racket that best suits your needs.

You can get the dart or the bus.

The closest dart station to the centre is Howth Junction. Exit the dart station and go over the over pass coming down the middle stairs, follow the lane way out into Baldoyle Industrial Estate. When coming out of the lane turn left and follow the road, we are located at the very end. (All this is about a 5-7 minute walk)

There is a bus stop located after the bridge on the main road beside the centre.  The bus is the 29A towards Baldoyle and the stop number is 5156.

During training we only require you wear court or non-mark shoes as we use high quality non-slip matts on our courts, but obviously you will want to wear appropriate sports gear that is comfortable to play in. During competition finals in the Leagues and Cups, men are required to wear shorts and women should wear shorts or skirts. (Basically, you’re not allowed to play your match in a tracksuit.)

We have a wide range of ages in our club from twenties to sixties! You’ll be playing with people the same level as you regardless of age – don’t worry, we’re all friends in Raheny Badminton (and young at heart too).

Yes absolutely! We encourage all our players to play in league competitions, just let us know you are interested and we will include your name for team selection.

No, if you prefer to just come down on training nights for social games that’s fine. We encourage our players to play in league as its lots of fun and helps to improve your badminton!

Yes. We have team coaching available through out the season.

Yes. Baldoyle Badminton Centre has recently upgraded the changing facilities and there are excellent showers and changing rooms with hairdryers provided.

Yes, Baldoyle Badminton Centre has a large car park located in front of the building. The car park is locked at night when the Centre is closed.

Yes, and we encourage players who are very keen to improve their skills to train outside our club nights too. Baldoyle Badminton Centre has courts available to the public for hire. Rates vary depending on the time and day. Contact the centre directly for more information on (01) 839 3355 .
