Our club caters for all levels of play – so whether you’re a beginner, returning after some time off, or a seasoned pro you’ve come to right place for fun badminton with a competitive edge. Our average membership is about 60 people which means you can be sure there will be plenty of players at your standard. If you’re just starting out, however, we recommend you do one of the beginners courses at Baldoyle Badminton Centre before you decide to join the club, as that way you’ll have the basic skills to enjoy the sport.
We play every Monday and Wednesday night from 8pm to 11pm during the badminton season (September-May). Most members like to arrive around 8pm so that they can get as many games as possible, but you can choose to get here at whatever time suits your schedule and lifestyle.
Raheny Badminton Club provides the courts (with top quality non-slip mats) and the shuttles, so all you need to do is show up with non-marking shoes and your racket. There’s a sports shop located in the Badminton Centre run by Mary and Elizabeth who would be more then happy to recommend a suitable racket if you’re new to badminton, or your old racket has been lying in the back of the cupboard for a long time….
Our members include lots of experienced players who are full of tips and advice on serving, footwork, and general court skills, and they’re always happy to help you improve your game. We also have a club coach in Mary Dinan, an ex-Irish international who was the recipient of a BWF (Badminton Europe) Meritorious Service Award in 2000. Mary won the ladies doubles event in the Irish National Badminton Championships in 1977/78/80/81/82 and also won the mixed event in 1981, so she knows what she’s talking about.
We look forward to welcoming you to Raheny Badminton Club for the coming season.
